Aurora Borealis Expected to Put on a Show Tonight and Tomorrow Night
G4 Geomagnetic Storm Watch Issued for May 11
Northern Lights Expected to Be Visible Across Northern Third of Colorado
The NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a severe geomagnetic storm watch for May 11. As a result, the northern lights, or aurora borealis, are expected to be visible across the northern third of Colorado.
The G4 watch issued ahead of the storm is the first since 2005. While the Northern Lights aren't commonly seen in Colorado, they do happen from time to time.
If the clouds cooperate, the northern lights could be visible as far south as Denver. The best time to see the aurora is typically between 10 pm and 2 am.
