RCN releases new liver disease care competency framework
Framework to support nurses in delivering high-quality care
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has released a new competence framework for nurses caring for people with liver disease.
The framework, which has been supported by the British Liver Trust, provides a comprehensive overview of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to deliver high-quality care for people with liver disease.
The framework is divided into four domains: assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. Each domain includes a number of competencies that are essential for nurses to possess in order to provide safe and effective care.
The RCN’s Liver Disease Nursing Forum Chair, Sarah Huckle, said: “This new framework is an essential resource for nurses caring for people with liver disease. It provides a clear and concise overview of the competencies required to deliver high-quality care.”
“We encourage all nurses who care for people with liver disease to use this framework to assess their own competence and to identify areas where they need to develop their skills.”
