Netflix has released the first trailer for the YA sci-fi film "Uglies," based on the popular novel by Scott Westerfeld. The film stars Joey King ("The Kissing Booth"), Keith Powers ("The Tomorrow War"), Chase Stokes ("Outer Banks"), Brianne Tju ("I Know What You Did Last Summer"), Jan Luis Castellanos ("Runaways"), and Laverne Cox ("Orange Is the New Black").
A Dystopian World Where Beauty is Enforced
"Uglies" is set in a dystopian world where everyone undergoes a compulsory operation at the age of 16 to make them "beautiful" by society's standards. However, Tally Youngblood (King) begins to question this societal norm, leading her on a journey of self-discovery and rebellion.
