Riley's ground game proves too much for Warriors

Riley held on to defeat Washington 44-41 in a wild contest Friday night. The Thunder improved to 5-0 on the season, while the Warriors dropped to 2-3.

Riley took an early lead, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter. Washington came back to tie the game in the second quarter, but Riley scored again just before halftime to take a 21-14 lead.

The Warriors tied the game again in the third quarter, but Riley scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a 44-28 lead. Washington scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.

Riley's ground game proved to be too much for Washington. The Thunder rushed for 350 yards and four touchdowns. Senior running back John Smith led the way with 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington's passing game was effective, but the Warriors couldn't stop Riley's running game. Senior quarterback Jake Brown threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions.

Riley's defense came up with several big plays in the second half. The Thunder intercepted two passes and forced three fumbles.

Riley will host John Marshall next Friday night. Washington will host Huntington next Friday night.
